The 25th International Gene Forum will take place on 25–26 August at the Estonian National Museum. This year, the Baltics’ leading conference on genetics and genomics celebrates its 25th edition and will focus on the role of genomic science in shaping the future of healthcare, as well as on emerging developments across Europe.
The first day of the conference will focus on health genomics. A special programme led by Professor Andres Metspalu, founder of the Estonian Biobank, will address the development of the European Health Data Space, the application of genomics in disease prevention, and international collaboration initiatives. On the second day, discussions will explore the complexity of the human genome, advances in single-cell genomics, and developments in microbiome and population genomics research.
More than 20 leading international experts will speak at the anniversary conference, including Marco Marsella, Director of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety, Peter Donnelly, a leading figure in the development and application of polygenic risk scores in personalised medicine, Evan Eichler, a trailblazer in the study of structural variation in the human genome, and Rob Knight, one of the world’s most renowned microbiome researchers.
The conference is organised by the University of Tartu Institute of Genomics in collaboration with the Estonian Genome Foundation.
