Face-to-face teaching continues in the spring semester

The Rector’s Office of the University of Tartu has decided that the university continues face-to-face teaching in spring semester 2021/22. To be able to meet in classrooms and avoid major viral outbreaks, it is still important to get vaccinated, stay home when ill and postpone large events.

According to Rector Toomas Asser, the university is not planning to introduce rapid testing to maintain face-to-face teaching. “Getting vaccinated and getting the booster shot continues to be the most important measure. Also, we have a zero tolerance for coming to work and lectures when ill,” the rector added.

Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Aune Valk confirmed that as in the autumn semester, institutes still have the right to reorganise their studies flexibly for a short period, but only if it is absolutely necessary. “We want to assure students that face-to-face teaching continues as long as possible. This is particularly important for international visiting students who come to Tartu for one semester only,” said Valk.

On Tuesday, the Rector’s Office also decided to postpone the ceremony planned for 23 February, as the university’s priority is to ensure the continuity of studies.

Students can get the most accurate information about the organisation of studies in their specialisation from their institute.
