The 16th International Gene Forum 2016

June 9-10, 2016, in Tartu, Estonia
An annual international high-level scientific conference on genetics and genomics, the major event in the Baltics, provides an excellent opportunity to establish and renew contacts in the region.

Due to its interdisciplinary scope, the conference brings together 17-18 distinguished experts from Europe and US for discussion of the progress in the field.

The leading theme for Gene Forum 2016 is complex data in everyday life, with the focus on genomics, lifestyle and environment. Speakers will discuss wide range of topics from personal complete DNA sequence data and portals to genomics-guided health-coaching, gut microbiome role in health and disease to personalized diet recommendations, mobile usage as a measure of personality, lifestyle and environment, as well as genetic breakthroughs in understanding normal cognitive function and ageing to innovative mobile "apps" to collect socioeconomic profiles through fun games, puzzles and questionnaires. This year we will have a special session on CRISPR-Cas9 technology, a breakthrough "gene editing"-tool which promises a cure for rare syndromes, novel drug discoveries and fast interpretation of genomic variation.

The conference incorporates also an exhibition aimed at the biotechnology related companies.

As the organizers, we hope that the forthcoming Gene Forum will create an inspiring environment to exchange ideas and experiences. The conference will take place in Tartu, the second biggest city of Estonia, rich in academic and historical traditions. We hope that your stay in Tartu will be both enjoyable and professionally stimulating.
