International training course "Medical Bioinformatics" will be held in Tartu, September 26-28
A three-day training course from genomics to bioinformatics will be held at the Biomedicum of the University of Tartu, September 26-28. The course will be organized by the PhD School of Clinical Medicine of the University of Tartu and by the Center of Translational Genomics established with the support of the University of Tartu Development Fund.

The Estonian Genome Center, University of Tartu is inviting people to celebrate the Day of DNA, on April 25 in Tartu Kaubamaja
At the same time of last year on the Day of DNA the Director of University of Tartu prof. Alar Karis and Mayor of Tartu Urmas Kruuse became public gene donors. This Saturday it is planned to celebrate the International Day of DNA with public workshops for all citizens in Tartu Central Department Store at 11-14 o’clock.

14.05.09 35 000th Gene Donor in the Estonian Genome Project!
The database of the EGP is growing fast and people are still interested in joining it. Yesterday the 35 000th gene donor joined the EGP. With the increase of the number of gene donors, it will be suitable for many genetic epidemiological studies. The large number of donors makes database of the EGP very valuable for different disciplines that need such kind of large databases. That enables to increase the importance of Estonia as a well-known country of science in Europe and elsewhere in the world and gives new possibilities for Estonian scientists.

The official name of Estonian Biobank has changed
From December 1, 2009 the official name of Estonian Biobank is Estonian Genome Center, University of Tartu.
